He likely means a UNIX system running the UNIX syslog daemon. That is the, vague, equivalent of the MVS SYSLOG. I have some CA-OPS/MVS code which uses REXX sockets to create an SNMP trap message to CA-UniCenter to report problems. But the code was cribbed from some BMC code which I was given permission to use, so I don't know if I should make it generally available.
