If your security people won't agree, make them justify the (TCP) change. Their head "on the block" not yours. FWIW, I can't imagine trying to rush something like this through. You have a tenable workaround that can be instituted on-the-fly, why not use it. We, as most others I suspect, have a minimal default that has never given us any trouble.
