Hmm... I still have a (paper) memo from the law department of the
Fortune 500 company I worked for in 1981-1985, making this point, and
recommending electronic downloading of software where possible. This
was in an era when electronic downloading meant async dial-up modems
at 1200 BPS and xmodem or the like, or in the case of IBM, an RSCS
dial-up connection at 2400 BPS.
