I'm almost tempted to bid, but then what would I do with them? There are
actually 4 of them for sale. Three are at $80, and the fourth is at $220.
I didn't see any information on model numbers. The MP3000 had 3 models -
the H30, H50, & H70. I believe most of the H30s often came with built in
DASD. The H50 I worked with for 5 years had no built in DASD. It ran the
business very well.
But, what good are they? If you are a hobbiest, to legally run z/OS you
would have to pay several thousand dollars a month to IBM. It would be very
hard to even get IBM to lease the software, as the last release of z/OS that
will run on a MP3000 is z/OS V1.5. The MP3000 still had 31 bit addressing.
I can see if you had one or two MP3000s in your company, and were still using
them, they might be good to buy for parts if you could maintain them
yourself.
