At the risk of "wearing out my welcome" here (assuming I haven't already),
I've abandoned the idea of using a "protected" ID for FTP and am now using a
NETRC dataset.
Everything works as expected, until this:

WTF????
How is there a "usage" issue with the put command????
I expected an authorization error (code 17) on the target system, because I
have not yet authorized the FTP userID to the dataset profile protecting
HLQ.* on the target system.
How the [EMAIL PROTECTED] is this a "usage" error instead????
