But instead of downgrading why not get the z10BC? It has a better MSU to power ratio so you get the savings in software costs without the decrease in power. Besides, I believe the zIIP and zAAP engines are also less expensive. That's what we did. We went from a 2096-U04 without a zIIP to a 2098-S04 with a zIIP and still got the software cost savings.
