Hi,
Maybe I am getting bored..... But my real reason for making the
cbt-tape forum on yahoogroups is so that if people find bugs or
imperfections in any of the CBT Tape files, that they should have a
place to report them to me. Or to stimulate someone to fix the program
and send the fixed version back in to me. I think it's worth my extra
work of monitoring the forum, so that the quality of the CBT Tape
distributed materials is maintained and improved.
With new operating system versions and new equipment, we may have to
modify or fix an old program. So we need a place where a person can
point this out and something should be done about it.
For example (I have my own backlog of stuff to do): Someone
reported that when the TAPEMAP program (File 299) is reading a tape on a
3590, UCB Type X'78048083', the program reports the density of the files
as 200 bpi, which is obviously an error. By changing 2 instructions in
the UCB Type interpreting code, I can report the drive as a CART, and
the footages, at least, in 3480 terms. Much better. If people would
report imperfections like that to me, I'd appreciate it very much. And
they should have a place to do it. Send a note to the cbt-tape forum,
and the problem will be addressed......
That's what the forum is for. And it is also to help people with
any "tape contents related" questions.
We're trying to help...... Dig we must! (New Yorkers will
appreciate that!)
Sincerely, Sam Golob

If you want a forum to discuss the contents of (or find stuff on)
the CBT Tape and the CBT Overflow Tape, I have started a new group
called cbt-tape on yahoogroups. Below is the info:
Damn - looks like Sam is getting bored .... :o)
Personally I never found it a chore poking around file1.
Seems the boy is looking for things to fill all that spare time ... ;-)
