I added some disk to the jes3 plex and purposely left it out of the inish
deck and all esoteric, just thought to use 3390 or SYSALLDA. I can see the
disk from operator commands and was able to init them successfully.
However,If i try and do 3.4 on the volume, it says unavialable, If I try to
BR14 a data set onto one of them the job just hangs. What do I need to do to
be able to use these. I am NOT a JES3 heavy weight.
With existing DASD devices defined in the JES3 initialization stream,
it's likely you're using JES3 setup to optimize your resource allocation
and initiator utilization. If you allocate by unit address e.g.,
UNIT=/1234 you might be able to allocate a data set. But, certainly any
allocation referring to the generic 3390 name or esoteric SYSALLDA name
won't see these devices because those names are known by JES3 setup and
you don't have the new devices defined to JES3.
