The trains were available. The management desire for the fastest print speed dictated the 48 character chain. I think that it was the 1980's before we got the QNC chain which had 60 characters where 45 of them were in all of the sets (5 I think) and 15 were scattered 3 to a set. The name and exact details are subject to hazy recollection.
