Hmmm. I searched the archives for a post last week which mentioned USS and only found one (on the 28th) - and the discussion was VTAM. I can't think of a "pedant" complaining here recently about this issue. I remember there was a question earlier this week if USS and OMVS were the same thing, and the answer was "Many people use USS to mean 'z/OS UNIX System Services'. It is an unapproved acronym." This does not sound like a complaint to me, it sounds like a helpful answer.

Sometimes, they are deliberately obtuse, even though the context points to UNIX System Services rather than VTAM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
