IIRC it doesn't use ALESERVE or access registers. It's all done by 
RSM. Basically IBM turned a bug, multiple pages backed by the same 
frame, into a feature. Very cleaver.

It's clearly intended for "application" use, however, the 
application isn't going to be your typical COBOL program. 
System programmers ought to understand how it works as USS 
is a heavy user. It's easy to code up a sample application.
