A good way to rapidly gain mainframe operations and systems programming
skills would be to install Hercules and run a test version of z/OS or z/VSE
on your own PC. This way you could experiment with all the commands without
any fear of breaking your company's production system.

However you cannot do this because IBM licensing restrictions prohibit this
type of self-education.

Go figure.
