I was going through my SMFPRMxx for the first time in a very long time, and found the following comment I'd left for myself:
/* * SMF RECORDING DATASETS SHOULD RESIDE IN THE MASTER CATALOG. * (THE DOCUMENTATION DOES NOT EXPLICITLY SAY THIS.) IT APPEARS * TO BE POSSIBLE TO HAVE THEM IN A USER CATALOG IN R1.3, BUT * GREG DYCK -- MVS DEVELOPMENT -- RECOMMENDS AGAINST THIS AS * OF MID 1998. HE SAYS THE SMF ADDRESS SPACE CAN WIND UP * ALLOCATING YOUR USER CATALOG FOREVER. */ Can anybody tell me if this is still so? Against my own advice, I've had SMF.&LCLSYSID.MANx datasets in a usercat for years and years, never having a problem. I hate going against Greg's advice, but it *is* 12 year old advice after all. -- David Andrews A.
