Check the archives for discussions of kneecapped processors. This has been covered many times. >It is one thing to cut back the CPU cache. It is quite another to >deliberate slow things down. That's absurd. Reducing CPU cache will certainly cause a system to slow down, but not in a very predictable way. And why is it more reasonable to use only part of the available cache than it is to run the CPU at a slower speed? -- Tom Marchant ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
