What's the perceived wisdom on VTAM dispatching priority these days (zOS1.4) ? The IBM-MAIN archives are rather ambiguous about it.
Yesterday afternoon one of the AS400 guys did some mammoth data transfer and locked the mainframe up completely. When we reset VTAM from SYSSTC to a low importance workload things sprang back to life. Response time does not seem to be affected. I am now advocating leaving VTAM as a lower priority task to pre-empt such lock-outs. Is this sensible? (For an experience in a previous life see CBT file 404 member SEAGUGOP.)
