I've received a few responses off-list as well as on-list, but so far only
regarding "provisioning" the new datacenter(s).

I'd also like to solicit ideas on how to "transition" from the old to the
new. To avoid changing both architecture (G5 to z/Architecture) and OS
release at the same time, assume that current z/OS 1.5 workload would be
moved from the G5 to the z/Box[en], *then* z/OS upgraded to 1.7 (1.8?).
With that restriction, it looks like a couple options are available:

1. Perform a D/R exercise (maybe more than one) and eventually make it
permanent at the new location?

2. IPL "clones" of existing images on the new H/W --

        a. into our existing Sysplex?
        b. into a new Sysplex? (and then do Option 1?)

Pros / cons of these options?

Other options?

I've set the reply-to: for off-list responses directly to me.

TIA,

    -jc-
