As interesting as this may be, what does this digression have to do
with the original question?
The OP asked a z/OS question, never once mentioning z/VM.
The need to get the CPU of the machine you are running not what is
shown in Z/OS Control Blocks (such as the CVT) is implied by the use
of "REAL". Thus the need to ignore the phony (ie: editable/settable)
CPU ID returned when running Z/OS under Z/VM is implied by the use of
that term/qualifier.
