Many years ago I worked for a company that had Endevor (before CA purchased it and changed the name to CA-Endevor). Endevor tracks the relationships between source, object, & load modules/objects. When a change is made, it will calculate what needs to be re-compiled, re-linked, etc. and do it. It does require APF authorization. It invokes compilers, linkers, etc. to update protected libraries. Conceptually this is similar to SMP. Of course, that does not mean that CA-Endevor is susceptible to the same exposure. However, I think that it might be prudent to consider reviewing CA-Endevor for the possibility. I'm not familiar with Changeman, but I guess that they are competing products. Does Changeman have features similar to SMP? Should it be reviewed? Some people may call me Chick Little.
