I always thought that even IBM cut it real close when it came to fixing SMF 
records. I vaguely remember some ptf's coming out in last 1990's fixing a 
record. Since its been over 10 years my memory cannot come up with specifics 
other than I remember "some".

I agree that with out the doom sayers management would never have paid any 
attention (or very little). I know for sure my code for SMF record(s) reporting 
needed a few tweaks here and  there. I would have hated to fix the reporting 
program I wrote in 197x as that was a program that even I was amazed at as to 
its efficiency. I am pretty sure the kludge that would have had to be redone 
would not have been pretty.
