The great irony is that instead of mini's (AS400, System 38, etc), PC's, and mobile's (Iphone, Ipads) replacing or weakening the mainframe's position, they are extending and strengthening them enormously making them indispensable and insuring their place indefinitely.
But, please, don't tell anyone. Already there are tens of thousands of students starting to learn mainframe in colleges and universities. Before you know it bookstores like Barnes and Noble will be carrying books like z/OS Install for Dummies. And our rates be worse than ever. It is very comforting to hear that the mainframe is dead. May it forever rest in peace. ;-) On Wed, Jun 30, 2010 at 2:58 PM, Scott Rowe <[email protected]> wrote: > Wow Anton, just how big is that axe you're grinding? > > 1) I don't see any indication that he "has devoted his academic life/work > to IBM".
