No, GML is a superset of script, by definition.
A superset includes all the functions/elements of the original set, PLUS new 
elements that do not exist in the original set.
This is the TRUE definition of a superset.

If you do not preprocess all the macroes/tags before you actually process the 
document they won't work.
But, the script commands will.

No it's not.
You've put words in my mouth, I did not say anything of the sort.

By definition (of superset)assembler with macroes is a superset of assembler.
And, that is where the 'analogy' stops.
