No, it can't be done, at least not like that.

A catalog import must be to the same name, and I don't think there can be any
data in it before you import.

If you are trying to merge the contents of two catalogs, you need to use REPRO
MERGECAT.

I did an

export 'catalog.useraa' outfi(outcat) temp

on the old system.

When I try to

import inda(outcat) outda('catalog.different') cat('MASTERV.CATALOG')
(catalog.different already exits)

I get

IDC0604I DATA SET BEING IMPORTED WAS EXPORTED ON 08/18/10 AT 23:28:45
IDC3012I ENTRY CATALOG.different NOT FOUND+
IDC0014I LASTCC=12
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 8 - REASON CODE IS IGG0CLEG-42

Is what I am doing even possible?

Must the catalog names be the same?

Must I start from an empty catalog?

Should you use the mailblocks package and expect a response from me,
you should preauthorize the dissensoftware.com domain.

I very rarely bother responding to challenge/response systems,
especially those from irresponsible companies.
