The SETPROG LPA command just loads modules. It doesn't update pointers
to exits, SVCs, etc.

There are a number of discussions in the archives on the steps to
activate an updates SMF exit using SETPROG LPA and EXITS options. If
you search on SETPROG LPA EXIT here

AMBLIST won't. Confirmed by searching IBMLink using the keywords

  ERROR DESCRIPTION:
AMBLIST LISTLPA does not support the dynamic LPA feature.
AMBLIST has been retained for compatibility with existing
customer procedures. Customers should switch to the use of
LPAMAP under IPCS (See OS/390 MVS IPCS Commands) in order to
  gain support for dynamic LPA.
  .
However, customers should also be aware that APAR OW37427 and
in obscure cases OW37790 must be applied to their system in
order to use the IPCS LPAMAP command.

  LOCAL FIX:

  PROBLEM SUMMARY:
  ****************************************************************
  * USERS AFFECTED: Users of the LISTLPA amblist control *
  *                 statement.                                   *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
Amblist LISTLPA does not support dynamic LPA. This
restriction is not documented in the MVS Diagnosis: Tools
  and Service Aids manual.

  PROBLEM CONCLUSION:
Amblist LISTLPA does not support dynamic LPA. The current
LISTLPA support in amblist will be maintained but it will
not be upgraded in support of new function.
The recommended replacement is the LPAMAP subcommand of IPCS.

I hope that helps.

Subject: SETPROG Command question

What are the limitations/restrictions of the SETPROG LPA command?

Trying to add my IEFACTRT routine using this command, I get the
following:

CSV551I 09.24.46 LPA ADD 913
SUCCESSFUL: 1 UNSUCCESSFUL: 0 NOT PROCESSED: 0
MODULE RESULT
IEFACTRT SUCCESSFUL

However, when I do a LISTLPA command using AMBLIST, there is no entry
for IEFACTRT.

THANKS
