Paul, what is IXCMIAPU detail report for that log stream telling you? Are those data sets still connected to LOGR or are they 'orphaned'?
You also may want to look into the Programming RRS book. There may be a utility around somewhere that does the actual delete of the log blocks for you (similar to IEAMDBLG in samplib for operlog log streams).
