To John Mattson: Have you considered using XMITIP as your email - tool for sending emails with attached files from the mainframe? XMITIP will properly convert your file to TXT, PDF, ZIP and a few other formats, regardless of record length. And the best thing about XMITIP is: It's free. And it's quick and easy to install. I've been following this thread, and asked Someone at IBM Who Shall Remain Nameless, who replied: The MTA doesn't care about MIME, per se, but it may not be coded defensively in the event those posited too-long-lines are causing a problem. There's nothing in the IP User's guide about using IEBGENER to copy things over to SMTP. It would seem that TRANSMIT is the preferred way.
