So, I want to run a UNIX shell "script", which may be fairly long, from a TSO session. Now, I don't like the idea of starting up a UNIX shell process for each "script". I would like to have a "long running" UNIX shell going to which I can send a UNIX command from TSO and receive the output back to my TSO session. I understand about long-running, async UNIX processes which could make this complicated. I don't plan to do any UNIX "background" processing (via the & at the end of the UNIX command). TSO OMVS sort of does this, but I can't do anything else in the session but UNIX work unless I do an OEDIT or OBROWSE as a way to "switch back" to ISPF. Yes, I can do that. I don't like it. And I don't see why I should put up with it if I don't like it just because IBM doesn't consider worth-while to implement themselves. It would be a bit like forcing me to use ISPF option 6 to enter any TSO command. Since I don't want to justify my desires to IBM, some have indicated that means the idea is inherently stupid or worthless. >
Ever try out TSO Session Manager? I think of TSO Session Manager as "split screen" for TSO READY. I've not used Session Manager in years, but I thought it's still there built in to z/OS.
