I met Grace Hopper at the Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey Bay, 1978 or 1979. I was the president of the student chapter of the Data Processing Management Association and our sponsoring DPMA chapter had arranged for us to join them on a tour of the NPGS data center and then we gathered to hear her speak. She stayed for a good while after, wanting to hear how the students were getting on and what we were interested in. I will never forget her and I still have the 'nanosecond' that she gave me.
