1 - Not necessarily for emergencies. Use it for SAD, which could be considered an emergency :)
2 - Not recently. We used it while setting up the OSA consoles originally. We've not had problems with OSA consoles recently. 3 - We use it when the locally attached console isn't quite so local, such as IPLing the sandbox from home.
