You need to see how many job numbers you have defined.

$DJOBDEF
$DSPOOLDEF
$DSPOOL,LONG

These commands should help you see what it going on.

I typically maximize my spool space by increasing the number of spool
volumes (JQES) and job numbers (JNUMS)

If you normally run with X job nums or Y spool space then you might have a
runaway job or task. Check your SYSLOG for $HASP050 messages and look for
JOB EXCEEDED message for LINES, BYTES, PAGES.

You may need to set your limits on BYTES, PAGES, LINES to a number that lets
you know when things are occurring. Or set you Spool space/Jobnum limits
lower. Mine are currently at 90% and we have not hit that yet. But then I
have 4 times the number of spool volumes for the amount of output and jobs
we run here. You may not be able to do that, so make it lower 80% or even
75%.
