The "general" thing about HSM is that there are so many things for which you cannot run a batch job to do some HSM function and get a non-zero return code if the function fails. Really, things like DELVOL which only reply thru TPUT there is no way to automate a function like MARKFULL with a batch job, not even Netview or CA's automation products. If you wish to mark all your ML2 tapes FULL so that you can do TAPECOPY, there must be operator intervention at some point to confirm that each step happened correctly. This is insane. It makes "lights out" operation impossible. It brings human error back into the equation. If you or, or anyone, knows a way around this, I would appreciate hearing about it. If you can put a bug in the right IBM ear about this, I would really appreciate it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [email protected] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
