That is unecessary and doesn't solve the problem. Changing the DC to
CL80 will correct the trailing garbage; if he does as you suggest
there will still be trailing garbage. The 0C4 was because of the REFR
and RENT on code that was neither.

No; he needs RECFM and LRECL. He should, however, remove BLKSIZE.
