It has been a while since I looked at this, but I think the only things
EOD does is to switch SMF and flush buffers and then close SYSLOG.

It may do the same to OPERLOG (or not), we don't currently run it.

So I think the only thing you need to do is get SYSLOG and or OPERLOG
active again.
