One caveat, though: some functions of DELETE require APF-authorization, and
a non-APF program would not be able to call IDCAMS to perform those
functions. I don't think that would pose any problems for simple deletion of
data sets as the OP wants to do, but it would affect things like deleting
aliases, if I remember correctly.
