Hum, I wonder about that (but don't know). I think that it is still true that a JES2 logical initiator is not "bound" to a specific initiator started task (ASID). So, a "CICS" initiator (ASID) could have had some batch jobs run in it before running the CICS job. If so, this could mean that some errant "system" type code (APF or exit) might have left a "sand bar" in the 31-bit portion of the address space. If so, it might end up that a CICS region would have significantly reduced 31-bit space in the region.
