However my own answer is that DBCS has been around for a long, long time in the mainframe environment and there is a lot of software that supports it. Changing to Unicode is probably the way to go, however I would expect it to take several years. For the forseeable future I would expect to continue supporting DBCS (and SBCS for that matter).
