According to my very limited research/experience, many (most?) spam filters do not acknowledge suspected spam in any way. And that makes sense as any reply will inform the spammer of the legitimacy of the email address, making it more valuable and thus subject to stepped up attacks.
Yes, I agree that I am wondering why I pay for the crappy service I am getting. The service does stop about 90% of the virus payloads, which does help a little in that I might accidently open one.
