Many persons have misunderstandings about registered mail. The most
common are confusing registered mail with insured mail and / or
certified mail. I have never heard of a theft from US registered mail
(the Hope diamond was shipped via registered mail), although overseas
registered mail is not nearly so secure. Most diamond dealers regularly
ship diamonds via registered mail, as it is the safest of all transport
mechanisms.

Penalties for stealing registered mail are severe and almost certain to
catch the culprit due to the signature tracing.

1. This is very slow.

Maybe but better to be slow and safe

2. There is a lot of handling.

And there is not with any other courier

3. Post Office employees do steal from the
mail.

Again it is locked, that will be found out before the end of the shift

4. If this worked, we wouldn't have courier
companies.

Maybe they don't know the post office can offer that type of service,
besides there has to be other companies because then the post office
would
be a monopoly, the US post office is not a government institution, it
has
its own board of directors, but is over seen by the government.

5. I have had two registered letters sent to
me lost, in the past 10 years.

Nothing is 100%, a hacker can break any code just give them time,
anything
man can create, man can uncreate
