I'm not sure what[1] machine you're thinking of, but it wasn't the
SS-80. That was a decimal computer, using a 2-out-of-5 code to
represent the digits. The SS-80 and SS-90 were the only machines that
I know of that used magnetic logic.
[1] I though maybe 1105 or UNIVAC 3, but neither has the right word
size.
