I don't know about the letters associated with the control units, but the A, B, and C in D4x32XX3 doon't match the 3271, 2, 5 descriptions you give. D4B32XX3 is non-SNA (including 3270 LU0). A & C were both SNA. They had different RUSIZEs. I think the different RU sizes were to handle local vs NCP connections to SNA 3270s.
