Jim

Your title could be restated as "The SNMP Agent supported by z/OS 'feeding' the
SNMP Manager which happens to be supported by SolarWinds".

The point about the title change is that the "P" in "SNMP" means "protocol" and
thus SNMP is designed to support any old IP platform as an SNMP agent and any
old IP platform as an SNMP manager and the two will work harmoniously together!

You will find everything you need to know about how to set up "The SNMP Agent
supported by z/OS" in 2.16, "Chapter 25. Simple Network Management Protocol" in
the z/OS Communications Server IP Configuration Guide.

Details can be found in 25.0, "Chapter 25. Simple Network Management Protocol"
in the z/OS Communications Server IP Configuration Reference.

You will find even more information in 7.0, "Managing TCP/IP network resources
with SNMP" and several appendixes in the z/OS Communications Server IP System
Administrator's Commands manual.

I have a suspicion your colleague who is dealing with the SolarWinds SNMP
Manager product will have most interest in B.0, "Appendix B. Management
Information Base (MIB) objects".

As I said initially SNMP is a "protocol" and so is documented quite
independently from IBM. Thus there is an - I hope - acceptable tutorial
provided as a Wikipedia article:

Since this is very firmly a z/OS Communications Server IP question, the most
appropriate forum is the following:
