I have a TCP/IP Socket client that is talking to a windows (Java) TCP/IP socket server. When I subdown the server I detect a problem and close down the connection and attempt to connect again. When I attempt to connect it takes about 3 minutes for the client to detect that the server is not going to respond. Is there a way to reduce the time to wait for the connection? I would prefer to not change the whole network but if this what is required so be it.
