In previous versions of OSA/SF it was possible to use various ways of
communication, including TCP/IP, non-IP (SNA) and TSO session via
emulator. TSO session could use coax to 3174 or ...OSA in ICC mode.
Fortunately ICC can be configured without operating system, via HMC.
Like older 3174's.
BTW: AFAIK nowadays it's possible to have the only one OSA chpid
(Express3-1P). Assuming you want to use SNA and IP you have catch 22
problem: you have to use the only chpid to communicate (*) with the
system and you have to put the chpid in unavailable status to activate
the definitions. Or maybe you can perform activation port by port (there
are two ports). What's sure, you have to use one OSA for communication
when going to configure another OSA.
(*) Let's forget about old CIP or 2216 with ESCON port
