If you have z/OS you now have DFSORT.
It will be maintained with z/OS just like the rest of DFSMS through the
normal service stream or by replacement via xxxPac.

This really is not any different than a transactional subsystem that
requires you to have any other DFSMS base feature configured for use.
An example might be a transactional subsystem that required PDSE or HFS
for an installation library, RRS as part of it's runtime environment,
etc. In this case the feature required is DFSORT. It has to be
configured and you now need to pay more attention to service but the
process for service has not changed.

It almost seems like it's Friday the 13th or something like that...
Just my $.02.

from what I have readon this thread, it sounds like folks are saying
"when
DB2 needs to sort, *I* want to be able to tell DB2 (at install time? at
run tine?) what sort product is invoked - be it DFSORT, SYNCSORT, or ..
CA-SORT ...

there are most likely good reasons behind opinions on both sides of the
issue ... I think a legit concern is how to distribute fixes to those
DFSORT modules used by DB@ to sites that are not licensed for DFSORT ...
