To expand on a comment I made in an earlier post, there are three
no-charge classes offered by IBM Systems & Technology Group. I can't
promise they're available outside the United States, but it's worth
checking your local IBM Education & Training web site. The U.S. web site
is here:
http://www.ibm.com/services/learning/us
Here are the course codes to look for:
ZJAV1 - "z/OS Java Exploiters and Java Batch Workshop"
WSW06 - "WebSphere Application Server V6 for z/OS: Security"
WBSR6 - "WebSphere Application Server V6 for z/OS: Implementation
Workshop"
At the moment you'll see a $0 price listed when you enroll, although the
system might still ask you for payment. Go ahead and "pay" your zero
balance. :-) I can't promise this program will last forever. No, it's
not an error. IBM STG is footing the tuition bill for you, your
colleagues, and/or your competitors. Enrollment is not guaranteed --
somebody at IBM looks at your enrollment and decides whether you're worthy
or not, I guess. (Maybe you can appeal any adverse decision to Judge
Judy?)
First come, first served (except if you're not worthy). Seating is
limited. Common side effects include hot flashes and mild strokes.
Results may vary. Do not drink any alcoholic beverages if you are
pregnant or could become pregnant. Past performance is no guarantee of
future results. Caution: apple pie filling is hot. Insert more standard
disclaimers here.
