Is there an **EASY** way to give IPCS an address and have it tell me: (1) the storage key and (2) whether it is fetch protected?
BACKGROUND: We implemented a new SMS managed tape system over the weekend. Part of the installation was to implement the OAM exits: CBRUXEJC, CBRUXENT, and CBRUXVNL. This morning at 3 a.m., the CBRUXVNL got an S0C4/PIC 4 at +0. This is a branch instruction. The only way that I know of to get an S0C4 on a branch is if the memory containing the branch is fetch protected and not in the CPU PSW key. In this case the CPU PSW key was 1 (not 8 or 0). What really concerns me is that this abend occurred in a CA-VTAPE started task. I don't know why the exit was being invoked. I looked at the parameter list being sent and the tape volser was 368057, which is not an SMS managed tape! It is an old, manual, 3490E cart. Which is correct in this case. Why was the VNL exit being driven, and by whom? No, that volume is not registered in the TCDB, I double checked. -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer UICI Insurance Center Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its content is protected by law.
