Hello Maureen, One thing to be especially careful of with page datasets is PAV.
Do not mix PAV enabled volumes with non-PAV enabled volumes for page datasets. On our Z/OS 1.4 systems, ASM ignores the non-PAV volumes, if it has access to PAV enabled volume page datasets. So our rule at the moment is ensure all page datasets are either on all non- PAV volumes, or all PAV enabled volumes. We use full volume mod-3 page datasets.
