There is just a bit more to MIM than just a GRS replacement. Managing ENQs and Reserves within a Sysplex does not really require MIM. Across Sysplexes, it is needed. Tape Drive Management (Reel, Cart, ATL, Silo, VTS, VTAPE) among z/OS systems may be do-able. Across Sysplexes, Data Centers, with z/VM and z/Linux requires MIM. Console Message routing within a Sysplex is also do-able. Messages across Sysplexes, from z/VM, and z/Linux Guests to a focal system requires MIM.
