You were just lucky. I've had to back off several of them ...
Perhaps, I had a few friends that were on the bleeding edge and
always touched base with them before I put any JES maintenance on. I
was also pretty lucky that I had no JES usermods so there was no
chance of conflicts. In a job long ago and not so far a way we had a
usermod in JES that routed the output in the jcl,jesmsgs (and another
that I can't remember) to two different locations. This area (where
the usermod was) was apparently a hot bed of changes. I had to go in
and change the usermod several times, yech. Fast forward 15 years and
IBM gave us the "free" way of doing this without a usermod. I sure
wish we had that facility back then.
