Hi, all,

Doing some pre-migration cleanup and have encountered one obsolete dataset
that just won't go away. "Normal" delete attempts give RC=8 and diagnostic
data x'04060020' from DADSM, which according to DFSMSdfp Diagnosis means:

"Verification of SMS flags failed; caller indicates data set is not
SMS-managed, but FMT4 DSCB indicates that it is an SMS volume. This error
might be caused by a damaged catalog entry. Issuing the recatalog command
might clear this error."

Well, RECATALOG didn't work, either. I can DELETE NOSTRATCH and DEFINE
NVSAM for it all day, but can't get the dataset out of the VTOC without
using "gymnastics" I haven't learned yet.

How best to get rid of this relic dataset?

TIA,

    -jc-
