Well, the only hit on the BBC's news site has BSOD in upper case, so the BBC think it's an abbreviation :-) Unfortunately, they don't seem to discuss VSAM or VTAM very much at the BBC, but they are surely acronyms. And ISTR that CICS is an acronym in the US but an abbreviation in the UK. But enough ...
